What tools and materials do I need to supply for a successful Yarn Mesh deployment?

This article explains the tools and materials you as a Yarn Mesh customer need to supply onsite for a successful core network and device deployment. 

The following tools and hardware need to be supplied by you (the customer) to support your Yarn Mesh installation.

Where any of the following items or devices have been specified for your Yarn Mesh network you will need to supply the relevant tools and materials onsite for successful and timely installation and deployment. 

Gateway

Tools and Hardware Required:

  • 3 x 0.8m Waratahs (per mast)
  • Sledgehammer (large)

Relays

Details on materials and tools required for installation of Relays for the three different mounting scenarios can be found on our Knowledge Base here:

If your installation has the any of the following mounting type for Relays then you will need to supply the relevant listed tools and materials onsite at time of installation:

Large (15m) Antenna Mast (per install location)

Tools and Hardware Required:

  • 6 x 1.6m Waratahs (per mast)
  • 3 x 0.8m Waratahs (per mast)
  • Waratah (post) driver
  • Sledgehammer (large)
  • Bolt cutters or cordless grinder with cutting disk
  • 13mm Ring Spanner (ratcheting)

Small (4.5m) Antenna Mast (per install location)

Tools and Hardware Required:

  • 3 x 0.8m Waratahs (per mast)
  • Sledgehammer (large)
  • 13mm Ring Spanner (ratcheting)

Waratah as a Mast (per install location)

Tools and Hardware Required:

  • 1 x 1.8m or 2.4m Waratah (per Relay)
  • Sledgehammer (large)
  • 13mm Ring Spanner (ratcheting)

AT520-AI Traps

For mounting an AT520-AI trap you (the customer) will need to supply the following materials per trap:

Tools required for Trap Installation:

  • Cordless Impact Driver (good quality brand (Makita, DeWalt, Milwaukee plus spare batteries)
  • 3/8 inch and 5/16 Hex bit per Impact Driver
  • Side cutter pliers
  • Foldable pruning saw (Silky Saw)

AI TrailCams

For mounting the Yarn Mesh AI TrailCam you (the customer) will need to supply the following materials per TrailCam:

  • 2-3 x Zip ties (200mm long)

Tools required for TrailCam Installation:

  • Cordless Drill with 4mm bit (good quality brand (Makita, DeWalt, Milwaukee plus spare batteries) (required depending on hardness of tree or timber the mounting bracket needs to be screwed in to). 
  • Side cutter pliers
  • Foldable pruning saw (Silky Saw)

TrapNode (CageNode for live-capture cages)

For mounting the Yarn Mesh TrapNode (aka CageNode) for live-capture cages you (the customer) will need to supply the following materials per TrapNode:

  • 10 x Zip ties (2.5mm wide and 150mm+ long)
  • Carry spare zip ties for breakages etc. 

Tools required for TrapNode (for live-capture cage) Installation:

  • Side cutter pliers
